Player Waiver Release: Every parent of a participating player and coach is responsible for filling out an electronic player waiver release before participating in the tournament. These should have been emailed to all participating teams, if you haven't received the waiver link, please email me.
Score Sheets: It is both teams’ responsibilities to make sure their team roster and coaching staff are all listed on the team roster. A game will not start if a team has not filled out the score sheet before each and every game.
Scorekeepers: Tournament supplies scorekeepers for every tournament game.
Statistics: The tournament records the team statistics of wins, losses and ties Individual stats are not recorded or posted in the Pacific Rim Tournament.
Team Roster: Each team can have a maximum of 18 players including goalies rostered for the tournament. However, a player cannot play for multiple teams on the same weekend.
Tournament Formats and Structure
Teams will play a 4 game round robin over the first two and half days of the tournament. Following the completion of round robin play all teams will be seeded based on their round robin results. The top 8 teams will advance to the Semi Finals, the remaining teams will have one consolation game on Sunday. Teams losing in the Semi Finals are eliminated from the tournament. Should two or more teams be tied with the same amount of points in the tournament following round robin play, the Round Robin Tie Breakers will be used. Because not all teams play each other over round robin play, a maximum score in a game will be capped at a +8 goal differential. Example if a team wins 11-1 the score will be recorded as 9-1.
Tournament Points: Two points will be allocated to the winning team, one point for a tie and zero to the losing team. A maximum goal difference of 8 is posted in all age groups (regardless of actual score)
Round Robin Tie Breakers when qualifying for playoffs:
1) Team that won the head to head match up, if still tied...
2) Team with the greatest number of wins, if still tied...
3) The team with the greatest goal differential GF-GA (A maximum of 8 goal spread is recorded in any game exceeding 8 goal difference), if still tied...
4) The team giving up the least amount goals against, if still tied....
5 The team with the least amount of penalty minutes, if still tied...
5) Coin Flip
Playoff Eligibility For Any Player:
A player must not only have appeared on the scoresheet but have played in a minimum of 3 of the 4 round robin games to be eligible to play in playoffs. A player not having played in a minimum of 3 round robin games is ineligible to play in playoffs exceptions for goalies
Ice Time Allocation:
Warm up - Pre-game warm-ups will be 3 minutes.
Mercy Rule: If there is a six-goal (or greater) differential going into the second and/or third period then game play will be switched to a running clock. If the differential drops to less than 6 goals stop time will resume.
Forfeit: All forfeited games will be recorded as a 8-0 score and the forfeiture will also result in the team losing all of their points in the tournament standings.
Jersey Colors For Game Play
The home team will always play in their darkest jersey color. The away team will wear their lightest jersey color. If a team only has one jersey at this time, please communicate 45 minutes ahead of the game with the other team, so the other team can wear a non-conflicting color.
Zero Tolerance: There will be no tolerance of referee abuse. Offenders will be ejected from the game. The referees will be instructed to give a single warning before ejecting any coach from the game. Any unsportsmanlike behavior will not be tolerated. Any coach ejected from 2 games in the tournament will be issued a 1 game suspension.
Time Outs: There are no Time-Outs in Round Robin Play. Each team has one time out per game in playoff games.
Tournament Rules: Follow the current HPL Hockey Rule Book for penalties assessed.
Major Penalties:

Overtime: No overtime in Round Robin Play - Playoffs - There will be a 4-minute, stop-time, 3-on-3 sudden death period to determine the winner. The team will remain in the same ends of the ice as the third period. If no winner is decided during the overtime, a 3-man shoot-out will decide the game. If still tied after the first 3, there will be a sudden death shoot-out. Each team must use every player on the bench before allowing the first shooter to go again. Players will shoot alternately at each end until the match is decided.

PLAYING AN INELIGIBLE PLAYER: Any team having an ineligible, or suspended player hit the ice, or coach on the bench, will forfeit the game resulting in a score being recorded of 8-0 victory for the other team. So please make sure that your team understands the rules, so it doesn't play an outcome in your weekend.
