Pacific Rim Tournament Format And Structure

Jersey Color - the home team should wear dark jerseys. With that said some teams may only have one color jersey for the weekend. Please communicate at the locker room area with the other coaches if your team only has one color of uniforms so we don't have jersey color conflicts at warm up.

All Games Are Broadcasted Live - All games at North Shore Winter Club and North Shore Canlan are available to watch via LiveBarn. The North Shore Canlan rink might be listed as North Van Canlan if you are searching for it on Livebarn.

Dressing Room Assignment - Please see the tv monitors when arriving at the rink to see your team"s dressing room assignment.

Dressing Room Cleanliness - Your team is representing your entire program at the Pacific Rim tournament this weekend. Please make sure the dressing rooms are left cleaner than when you arrived. The locker room is a special place for all teams and nobody wants to walk into a room in poor condition. If a dressing room is a mess when you get to the rink please let us know at the tournament table.

Scoresheets - both teams must have their roster filled out before the teams hit the ice.

Mercy Rule - If there is a five-goal (or greater) differential going into the second and/or third period then game play will be switched to a running clock. If the differential drops to less than 5 goals stop time will resume.

Team Roster: Each team can have a maximum of 20 players including goalies rostered for the tournament. No player in the Pacific Rim Tournament is allowed to appear or play for multiple teams in the same division of the Tournament. Each player is committed to play for only one team in the Pacific Rim tournament.

Pucks are provided for all teams this weekend for warm up - please do not take the pucks off the benches after a game.

Time Outs: There are no Time-Outs in Round Robin Play. Each team has one time out per game in playoff games.

7 Team Tournament Format For 2016 Elite Format

Each team will play four round robin games over the first 48 hours of the tournament.

- Following the round robin play the teams will get seeded from 1 to 7 based on their standings.

- The team ranked 1st place will advance with a bye through to the Semi Finals.

- Teams that are ranked 2 to 7th place will move through to the Quarter Finals.

- The three winning teams of the quarter finals advance to the Semi Finals. The three teams that lose the quarter final games are eliminated from the tournament.

- The highest seeded team in the division will play the lowest seeded team advancing to the Semi Finals. The two winning teams advance to the Championship Game.

- The two losing teams of the Semi Finals are eliminated from the tournament.

All playoff games have overtime if the game is tied at the end of regulation. All round robin games end in a tie.

Tournament Points: Two points will be allocated to the winning team, one point for a tie and zero to the losing team. A maximum goal diiference of 6 is posted in all age groups (regardless of actual score)

Should there be teams tied in the standings with the same amount of points following round robin play the following steps will be taken to determine the seedings in the standings.

Round Robin Tie Breakers when qualifying for playoffs:

1) Team that won the head to head match up, if still tied...

2) Team with the greatest number of wins, if still tied...

3) Highest decimal rating, based on total GF (goals for) divided by GF (goals for) + GA

(goals against) - a maximum of +6 or -6 per game in Round Robin

GF / (GF + GA), if still tied...

4) Lowest total PIMs, if still tied...

5) Coin Flip

Overtime:

No overtime in Round Robin Play
Playoffs - There will be a 4-minute, run-time, 2-on-2 sudden death period to determine the winner. The teams will remain in the same ends of the ice as the third period. If no winner is decided during the overtime, a 3-man shoot-out will decide the game. If still tied after the first 3 shooters, there will be a sudden death shoot-out. Each team must use every player on the bench before allowing the first shooter to go again. Players will shoot alternately at each end until the match is decided.
